#ChargeSafe
Let's talk about eBike batteries!
Are you the proud owner of a Mycle eBike? That's awesome! Riding an eBike can be a lot of fun, but it's important to make sure that you're taking good care of your battery. After all, the battery is the heart of your eBike, and it's what powers your rides and gets you where you need to go!
How to charge the battery safely
First things first, when you're charging your battery, make sure that you're doing it safely. Don't block your main exit with charging batteries or eBikes. If a fire breaks out, you need to be able to safely leave your home! Store them in a shed or garage where possible - but make sure it's somewhere that doesn't get too cold as this can affect their lifespan. Keep an eye out for warning signs that your battery might be failing and becoming a fire risk. And never leave your battery to charge when you're out or while you sleep.
It's also important to make sure that your battery and charger meet UK safety standards. Use the correct charger for your battery, and if you ever have any concerns, you can always contact us! Also, always let your battery cool before charging it.
What are the warning signs?
Finally, be aware of the warning signs that your battery could start a fire. If your battery feels extremely hot to the touch, looks swollen or has any type of lump or leaking from the device, makes hissing or cracking sounds, smells strongly or unusually, or is smoking, turn off the device and unplug it from the power source immediately. Get in touch with us as soon as you can for further instructions. If the device catches fire, raise the alarm, get out, stay out and call 999 immediately.
Taking care of your eBike battery is an important part of being a responsible eBike owner. By following these simple tips, you can help keep yourself and your eBike safe.
